Cody Moake Honored with 2024 Marion Chamber of Commerce's Young Professional Leadership Award

Marion, IL – January 22, 2025 – Cody Moake has been awarded the prestigious 2024 Marion Chamber of Commerce's Young Professional Leadership Award at the 104th Annual Banquet and Award Ceremony held on Friday, January 17th, 2025. This accolade recognizes his outstanding contributions to the community and his commitment to excellence in service.

Early in November, Cody Moake shared these words on his LinkedIn page: “The best towns are the ones that figure out how to strike a balance—honoring tradition while making space for the next chapter. It’s not about wiping the slate clean. It’s about having the courage to ask, ‘What if we could do better?’ and then actually listening to the people with the answers. That’s how you build a place where people want to stay.” This philosophy reflects Cody’s daily role as the City Manager of Marion, Illinois, where he guides and supports city leadership, administrators, staff, and citizens in striking that balance.

Cody has served as the City Manager since 2019, following roles in the Illinois State Treasurer’s Office and Williamson County State’s Attorney’s Office. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Illinois-Springfield. A lifelong Marion resident, Cody lives with his wife, Rachel, and their two daughters.

Rachel Moake highlights Cody’s dedication to his family and community: “Cody is passionate about his family and loves being a ‘Girl’ Dad. He works hard to provide the best life for us, always making time to play with our daughters and help those in need. His love and dedication are evident in everything he does.”

The 104th Annual Banquet and Award Ceremony, hosted by the Marion Chamber of Commerce, is a significant event that celebrates the achievements of local businesses and individuals. The evening includes a social hour, dinner, and an awards ceremony where various honors are presented, including the Citizen of the Year, Distinguished Member, Distinguished Business, Young Professional Leadership, Lifetime Achievement, and Awards of Excellence
