Citizen of the Year Award

Aur Beck has been awarded the prestigious 2024 Marion Chamber of Commerce's
Citizen of the Year Award at the 104th Annual Banquet and Award Ceremony held
on Friday, January 17th, 2025. This accolade recognizes his outstanding
contributions to the community and his commitment to excellence in service.
Aur Beck, founder and Chief Tech of AES Solar, has been a
transformative force in the Southern Illinois community for over two decades.
His journey into solar began as a teenager when he was captivated by a solar
power demonstration. This fascination grew into expertise, and in 1999, he
established AES Solar to empower others through education and sustainable
energy solutions.
Aur's leadership extends beyond AES Solar. He serves on
NABCEP’s JTA Committee for the PV Associate, contributing to the development of
solar industry standards. He is also an active member of the Carbondale City
Sustainability Commission, working to advance eco-friendly initiatives in the
community. A dedicated community advocate, Aur launched the "Leave It to
Chef" initiative, using his culinary skills to feed people and foster
connection. He is also a co-host of Your Community Spirit on WDBX radio, where
he engages listeners on sustainability and local issues.
Known for his gregarious presence and tireless dedication,
Aur finds joy in giving back to the region he calls home. Whether volunteering,
dancing at Carbondale Salsa Dance Nights, or welcoming visitors to AES Solar’s
Educational Showroom, Aur exemplifies the values of professionalism, integrity,
and community.
The 104th Annual Banquet and Award Ceremony, hosted by the
Marion Chamber of Commerce, is a significant event that celebrates the
achievements of local businesses and individuals. The evening includes a social
hour, dinner, and an awards ceremony where various honors are presented,
including the Citizen of the Year, Distinguished Member, Distinguished
Business, Young Professional Leadership, Lifetime Achievement, and Awards of
Excellence
