Marion Chamber of Commerce Honors Cindy Gibbons with Lifetime Achievement
Award
Marion, IL – January 8, 2025 – The Marion Chamber of Commerce is
proud to announce that Cindy Gibbons has been honored with the prestigious
Lifetime Achievement Award. This award recognizes Cindy's outstanding
contributions to the community and her unwavering commitment to fostering
growth and development in Marion.
Cindy Gibbons is a lifelong resident of Marion and a proud graduate of
Marion High School. She furthered her education at John A. Logan College and
the Kelley School of Business in Bloomington, Indiana. Cindy and her husband,
Pearl, are the proud parents of three wonderful sons—Nicholas, Jarrod, and
Blake—and three terrific daughters-in-law. They are also delighted grandparents
to four exceptional grandchildren who reside in Georgia and South Carolina.
Career Highlights
Cindy's illustrious career in banking began in May 1978 at the Bank of
Egypt. After the bank was acquired by Banterra in April 1985, she held various
positions over 23 years, including Teller, Assistant Cashier, Consumer Lender,
Collections Officer, and Vice President/Commercial Lender. Her experiences and
the mentorship she received prepared her for the next phase of her career.
In the fall of 2001, Cindy was recruited to help launch a new bank in
Marion for Old National Bancorp, based in Evansville, Indiana. She oversaw the
construction of the bank’s building, hired staff, registered with the Federal
Reserve, and made the bank’s first cash order. Under her leadership, the bank
reached $50 million in deposits within just three years. Cindy's tenure at Old
National Bancorp from 2001 to 2012 was marked by tremendous growth and
achievement.
After leaving Old National Bancorp, Cindy considered retirement but was
approached by Mayor Bob Butler and Commissioner Anthony Rinella to serve as the
Director of Water for the City of Marion. Over the next four years, she
embraced new challenges, gained valuable knowledge, and made significant
contributions.
In 2016, Cindy returned to banking as a Business Banker and Commercial
Lender with US Bank, where she works with business clients to provide banking
solutions that drive growth, convenience, and efficiency.
