Marion Chamber of Commerce Awards Jon Wofford with Prestigious Award of
Excellence
Marion, IL – January 8, 2025 – The Marion Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that Jon Wofford has been honored with the prestigious Award of Excellence. This award recognizes Jon's outstanding contributions to the community and his unwavering commitment to fostering a more inclusive and resilient society.
Jon Wofford is the Finance Manager at Watermark Ford/Hyundai of Marion,
where he will celebrate his 15-year anniversary this April. Before joining the
car business, Jon spent 15 years as a television sportscaster, working in South
Carolina and Nebraska, and covering major events like NASCAR, NCAA, NFL, and
The Masters. He is also known locally as "The Voice of the Wildcats,"
serving as the PA announcer at Marion High School and recently becoming an IHSA
Official.
Community Impact
Jon's dedication to the community is evident through his various roles
and activities. He enjoys fishing, golfing, and pickleball in his spare time
and is a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan, an avid hockey fan, and a supporter of
NCAA Women's Volleyball. Jon's passion for sports and community engagement has
made him a beloved figure in Marion.
Born in Rockford, Illinois, Jon considers Woodhull, Illinois, his
hometown. He grew up on a farm in northwestern Illinois and attended SIU-C,
where he earned his degree in Radio & Television. It was at SIU that he met
his wife, Kendra, a Marion native. They currently reside in Marion with their
three children, Will, Gloria, and Kathryn.
Jon is also a veteran, having served seven years in the Illinois Army
National Guard, where he earned the rank of sergeant with the 2/123rd Field
Artillery Unit.

The Award of Excellence from the Marion Chamber of Commerce is a testament to Jon Wofford's dedication to making a positive impact in the Marion sports programs, it’s youths and the community as a whole. This honor reflects his hard work, commitment, and the support of his family, colleagues, and friends.
